We know that sustainability is a smart move for every business, so we cultivate your EcoAdvantage to help you get the most from your investment in eco-friendly packaging.

EcoAdvantage
  • What We Do

As more customers become climate-aware and packaging legislation grows more common, some packaging brands are starting to add “greener” lines to their marketplace.

While there’s a place for those options, that’s not how we do things at EcoPackables.

We are 100% focused on sustainable packaging — and we make sustainability a core tenet of every part of our business.

This means that no matter what materials or packaging styles you end up choosing, you can rest assured that they were designed with the planet in mind.

We offer a full suite of sustainable packaging solutions, from shipping supplies to retail bags and everything in between. You can find recycled poly mailers, compostable pouches, and even void fill for a sustainable unboxing experience.

We work with every brand one-on-one to determine which of these options will be the best fit for their needs and goals.

Read on for a deeper dive into what you’ll experience working with EcoPackables.

Our Sustainable Packaging Framework

Our vision is a world of packaging circularity, where all packaging is either reused, composted into healthy soil, or recycled into new packaging.

We're working toward this vision every day by pioneering the most sustainable packaging available.

While we recognize that there is no "perfect" packaging, we use robust testing and certification standards to ensure all of our materials meet our rigorous standards.

In every decision we make, we're guided by our Seven Pillars of Sustainable Packaging:

  • Sustainable Materials Only
  • Make Sustainability Work for Your Business
  • Cultivate Your Sustainable Advantage
  • Prioritize Transparency, Clarity, and Trust
  • Invest in the Future of Packaging
  • Always Raise the Bar
Sustainable Packaging Process

Using this framework, we're here to help you find the most effective and impactful strategy for your business — so your packaging can be a win for your brand, your customers, and the planet.

EcoAdvantage: Our Tailored Process

In the world of sustainable packaging, there is no “one size fits all.”

We know that every business has distinct needs, from functional requirements to impact goals to budgeting constraints. This is why we take a holistic approach to each project, evaluating every factor to develop packaging that’s tailor-made for your brand.

Because we carry all three of the top sustainable packaging materials (recycled paper, recycled plastic, and certified compostable), we’re able to offer an unbiased assessment of the best options for your situation.

But we don’t stop there.

One of our core beliefs is that sustainability isn’t simply a box to check — it’s a strategic move that can strengthen your brand.

Choosing sustainable packaging helps you:

  • Stand out to increasingly eco-conscious customers
  • Show your commitment to doing good for the planet
  • Stay ahead of the curve in compliance issues
  • Increase your chances of being carried by major retailers
  • Become a changemaker in the packaging industry
  • Promote stronger infrastructure for recycling and composting

And more!

Throughout the process, we help you cultivate your EcoAdvantage so you can get the most from your decision to invest in sustainable packaging.

Because we know that sustainable packaging can be a win for every brand, we’re dedicated to making transitioning straightforward and accessible.

Here’s what you can expect when you work with us

1

Step One: Consultation Call

We kick off the process with a free, no-pressure consultation call with one of our packaging experts.

This gives you a chance to ask questions one-on-one in real time — and make sure you feel great about starting your sustainable packaging journey with EcoPackables.

We’ll set the foundation by chatting about:

  • Your business and products
  • Your current packaging
  • Your sustainability vision
  • Your budget and timeline

After the call, we can send you a sample kit so you can get hands-on experience with our different materials and packaging styles. Meanwhile, we’ll start brainstorming!

Step Two: Understanding Your Brand’s Needs

Once we’ve chatted with you and made things official, we start our analysis of every factor that influences your brand’s packaging.

We take a deep dive into your:

  • Product mix. What you sell and how it needs to be packaged and presented.
  • Functional needs. For example, we evaluate if you should ship in a box or mailer, how much protection and cushioning you need, and if your primary packaging requires specific oxygen or moisture barriers.
  • Operational requirements. We ensure our packaging fits into your operations, from warehousing to fulfillment. If you’ll be using our films on your equipment, we make certain that everything will integrate seamlessly.
  • Customer preferences. Different markets have different aesthetic preferences, so we help you curate a packaging experience that appeals to your target audience.
  • Budgeting requirements. We go over your desired costs for factors like per-unit packaging, shipping, and storage.
  • Sustainability and impact goals. Your individual goals matter to us. Whether you’re looking to go plastic-free, reduce your carbon footprint, or create a closed-loop system, we align your packaging with your values.
  • Long-term vision. Some brands need an accessible place to start while they work toward their big-picture sustainability goals, and we help you navigate the entire process.
  • With our findings in hand, we’re ready to identify the best packaging materials and styles for you.

We take pride in providing clear, informed, and unbiased recommendations to brands.

One reason we’re able to do this is because we carry a comprehensive suite of three of the most sustainable materials available including 100% recycled paper, 100% recycled plastic, and certified home and industrial compostable bio-film.

We use our analysis of your brand’s needs to recommend the best options for materials, styles, and more. To streamline your decision-making, we present these recommendations in a clear, concise way — and make sure you have everything you need to take your plan to your board and stakeholders for approval.

Once you’ve chosen a packaging mix, it’s time to start bringing your vision to life.

Step Five: Testing and Prototyping

Because we vet and test every material before we bring it to market, everything in your packaging has been proven against high standards of sustainability and quality.

But we don’t stop there. We also test everything again in the specific context of each project!

Depending on the type of packaging, our quality assurance process includes:

  • Crush tests for boxes and corrugate
  • Tamper-resistance tests for tape and seals
  • Product protection tests for shipping materials
  • Barrier performance (oxygen, moisture, etc.) for perishable goods
  • Print tests for new art plates
  • Color matching for branding projects
  • And more!

As part of the testing process, we’ll also provide you with prototypes of your packaging that you can approve before we produce your order.

Our goal is to make sure that every possible wrinkle is ironed out before you ever ship an order to a customer — so that you’re ready to launch your new packaging with confidence.

Step Six: Ordering and Launch

With everything approved and ready to go, we dive into the full production process.

For times when you need packaging quickly, rush services are available at an additional cost.

We keep you updated on the status of your packaging, including when it’s shipped. We practice what we preach and use sustainable shipping supplies to send your order!

Frequently Asked Questions

We focus on creating packaging that is aligned with your business needs and helps you meet your sustainability goals. We are 100% focused on sustainable packaging and dedicated to helping every brand we work with find a strategy that makes eco-friendlier packaging an advantage, not just a box to check off. And we always ensure the finished product goes above and beyond your expectations!

Lead times depend on the type of packaging, branding and print methods, and quantities. Lead times can be longer during peak ordering seasons, such as before the holidays. We also offer rush options subject to availability. To help you avoid delays and stress, we recommend planning ahead and ordering in advance whenever possible — it’s never too early to get started on your custom packaging journey!

Yes! We have several sample kits curated with some of our most popular options. You can also order individual samples of specific packaging products if you’re looking to test different sizes or styles. If you’re working on a custom project with us, we will also provide you with a prototype before producing your full order.

We conduct rigorous testing for all packaging before it goes into production. This includes barrier levels, crush testing, product protection, and more.

The minimum order quantity required depends on the type of packaging and branding. We most often work with medium to large brands and have the capacity to support high-volume manufacturing, but we also have stock options available for brands looking to purchase smaller quantities of packaging.

Before we even bring in a new material, we evaluate it to ensure it meets our rigorous sustainability standards. If we decide to stock a new material, we go through an extensive process of testing, prototyping, life cycle analysis, and certification. By the time a new material is available to the public, we’ve invested countless hours ensuring that it meets and exceeds expectations.

Trusted certifications are an important part of transparency. Many of our materials have one or more certifications. Our paper packaging is certified by the FSC for recycled content, our recycled films are GRS 4.0 certified recycled, and our compostable films are certified by ASTM and TÜV OK Compost Home.

Yes! Choosing recycled packaging helps promote greater packaging circularity, keeps usable materials out of the landfill, and strengthens recycling infrastructure. Almost all of our paper and plastic packaging options are fully recycled. We use either post-consumer or post-industrial waste, or a blend of both. In cases where virgin content is needed for functionality, we prioritize responsible sourcing.
